About IBT Laboratories

IBT is a clinical diagnostic and research laboratory specializing in immunology and allergy testing for physicians, hospitals, commercial labs and biopharmaceutical companies. Founded in 1983, IBT's mission is to develop novel assays and provide the most accurate, reliable and comprehensive suite of immunological tests and services.

Our expertise in the fields of innate immunity, immunogenicity, immune monitoring, immunogenomics and allergy has allowed us to become a leader in translational science - bringing assays from bench to bedside. Examples of our leadership in this area include being the first laboratory to offer a test to definitively diagnose autoimmune causes of chronic hives, a skin disorder that affects up to 1% of the population. We have also developed a suite of tests to help pinpoint the cause of adverse drug reactions through functional assessment of a patient's basophil or leukocyte response to a specific drug or chemical. IBT also developed the first commercially available test to measure pneumococcal antibodies. The test determines protective status of a patient and assesses B-cell functionality in a patient with a recurrent infection. Historically, our focus on bridging scientific research and clinical diagnostics has allowed us to offer many new assays each year.

In addition to providing high quality clinical diagnostic assays to physicians and laboratories, IBT leverages its scientific expertise to provide biopharmaceutical companies a broad range of tests to support exploratory testing through Phase IV clinical trials. We help a wide range of clients, through the application of standardized and custom assays, with the evaluation of immunogenicity, hypersensitivity and adverse immune stimulation. We have deep experience using many analytical platforms, including RT-PCR, qPCR, microbead arrays, ELISA, flow cytometry, RIA, Elispot and others, and can apply this knowledge to the analysis of immunogenicity, biomarkers, immune mediators, neutralizing antibodies and vaccine-induced immune response. Working with client development teams, we have successfully supported all stages of analysis from assay development to assay validation and transfer.
